BBQ Sauce Recipes

Everyone seems to want a good BBQ sauce recipe.  It has been one of the most often asked questions on The BBQ Forum.  There have been a lot of recipes given out for making sauce but these were from the first thread about BBQ sauce recipes.

It is just amazing to read the forum for over a decade, like I have and see all the posts asking for sauce recipes.  This first post asking for a sauce recipe should have been a tip off for me and a warning.  Many people have asked questions like this one and at times begging for the greatest sauce recipe ever.  Yet I have learned from the people of The BBQ Forum that the greatest recipes come from hard work.  They are developed by trial and error, at least that is what happens most of the time.  Sometimes it's just a simple recipe that tastes good.  I think that is what is great about these recipes.

I've been cooking bbq for a looong time. This is the best sauce I've
found. Don't let it's simplicity fool you. It's good.
1 cup catsup
1 cup water
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 Tbs. Worcestershire
1 Tbs. sugar
1 teas. celery seed
1 teas. salt
Tabasco to taste (I use 1 teaspoon)
Bring to a boil. Simmer for 30 minutes.

I used to work for a large black BBQ cook named Stubb in Austin Texas
One of the key ingredients in his sauce was to add the vinegar that
Serrano chiles peppers came packed in. You can use any chiles pepper
vinegar, but the secret is to use the right amount. If you do this right,
the sauce will be soooo good, it almost wont matter what else you put in it.
Star with a very basic store bought sauce like Kraft and add some of this
stuff and you will see what I mean. Of course, if you l like sweet sauce, forget it.
